del­i­ca­cies are ideal with a glass of Miche­lini Terold­ego, a cool cli­mate va­ri­etal which orig­i­nated in the Trentino-Alto Adige in north­ern Italy.

It has a dark, pur­pletinged colour and quite vi­brant, smoky aro­mas of jum­bled wild berries.

The flavour is dis­tinctly savoury al­though full of fruit, with hints of zesty black­berry and maybe some blue­berry to be found along with a lit­tle spice, with the earthy back­ground of cedar.

This is a full-blooded red which is still works well with food like meaty stews and casseroles and the bold flavour of wild mush­rooms.

But if you must, you can skip the mushies al­to­gether and con­cen­trate on the savouri­ness of the wine.

Af­ter all, it’s bet­ter to be safe than sorry.
