Wangaratta Chronicle - North East Regional Extra - - NEWS -

JUNE 27, 1880 was the second day of the Glenrowan Siege, with Aaron Sherritt dead, many of Glenrowan’s law abiding population, held hostage, and the gang assuming police would be sent for that they could ambush. As the day wore on and no police appeared, the atmosphere at Ann Jones’ Inn relaxed, but police forces were still mobilising themselves for combat and a train with police left Melbourne for Glenrowan late that evening.
