Mi­lawa cheese wins gold,

MI­LAWA Cheese Com­pany cel­e­brated its fourth Aus­tralian Food Awards gold medal at a for­mal pre­sen­ta­tion held at the Mel­bourne Show­grounds last week.

The Aus­tralian Food Awards recog­nise the best Aus­tralian food prod­ucts and pro­duce across eight ma­jor cat­e­gories, in­clud­ing dairy, meat, poul­try and fresh pro­duce.

Mi­lawa Cheese Com­pany’s chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer, Cerid­wen Brown, said “it was re­ally ex­cit­ing” to win gold with their King River Gold cow’s milk cheese in the Washed Rind Class for the fourth year in a row.

“It’s a tes­ta­ment to the whole team - the cheese­mak­ers, the staff, ev­ery­one,” Ms Brown told the Wangaratta Chron­i­cle.

“The King River Gold va­ri­ety’s dis­tinc­tive, golden rind has cer­tainly built a rep­u­ta­tion.

“It’s one of the first va­ri­eties we made when the fac­tory was set up in 1988 and
