Public land needs to be protected
THANK you to the Rural City of Wangaratta councillors who voted against changes of parking in Ovens Street.
It is time for ratepayers to be treated with informed respect.
The damage to our community by the destruction of the Wangaratta Town Hall and the Big W development continues.
Ovens Street, King George Gardens, Barr Reserve and the Showgrounds need to be protected as community assets.
The Victorian Environment Assessment Council (VEAC) has made a series of far reaching recommendations for legislative reform for public land requesting community response.
These are available at www.publicland. com.au Terra Publica Vol 17 No 2017.
