Kids can dip into holiday fun at WISAC

Wangaratta Chronicle - - What's On This Weekend - By FREYJA POSTLETHWAITE

CHILDREN have no excuse to stay on the couch all holidays.

There are many exciting holiday programs on offer for primary school students at the Wangaratta Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre (WISAC) over the next two weeks.

Holiday activities kicked off with dance and yoga classes on Tuesday afternoon, and were followed by beginners, intermediate and advanced gymnastics classes yesterday for children to put their balance, flexibility and coordination to the test.

Students will not need to travel to the coast to enjoy some aquatic fun when the crowd favourite pool inflatable returns to the WISAC today and next Thursday.

Children can try their hand at a fun and competition free introductory basketball program, Y Ball, next Tuesday from 10am.

WISAC program specialist, Prue Holmes, said the sessions would be the perfect opportunity for students to get active during the break.

“We are offering popular programs that people like to do so hopefully we will get a few kids through the door,” she said.

“The whole idea is to offer as much as we can within the school holidays so kids don’t get bored and have something fun to do.

“We have seen quite an increase in participation in our gymnastics program so hope- fully we will get a little bit of traction there too.”

Bookings are essential for all activities except the indoor pool inflatable.

For more information or to book, contact the WISAC on (03) 5722 1723.
