Rock on with the whole fam­ily at Wan­garatta Race­course next month

NAOMI Hod­gens from Hu­man and Hound will be guest speaker at the Friends of Win­ton Wet­lands an­nual gen­eral meet­ing on Satur­day, Septem­ber 22.

Naomi will at­tend with tracker dog Kip, who will demon­strate its abil­ity to lo­cate tur­tle nest sites at Win­ton Wet­lands, and through this ac­tion, will en­able the pro­tec­tion of nest sites against preda­tors.

The AGM will be run from 10am to 2pm at the Old Mokoan Yacht Club in Lake Mokoan Road, Ch­es­ney Vale, with lunch pro­vided.

FOS­TER car­ers are ur­gently needed to pro­vide a safe place for lo­cal chil­dren to stay on a long term, short term or emer­gency ba­sis.

Up­per Mur­ray Fam­ily Care (UMFC) pro­vides fos­ter care for 60 chil­dren each night in the North East re­gion, but last month eight ado­les­cents and 11 chil­dren were un­able to be placed as there were no car­ers avail­able.

Lo­cal fam­i­lies, cou­ples and sin­gles interested in find­ing out more about what’s in­volved in pro­vid­ing fos­ter care are in­vited to at­tend an in­for­ma­tion ses­sion at UMFC to­day at 5pm at 37 Mackay Street in Wan­garatta, where they can find out what fos­ter care is re­ally like from car­ers in the lo­cal area.
