Pies back to full strength for Raiders
From back page The Raiders led into the final minute, before an Albury goal with 47 seconds to go sealed the two point victory.
“From our perspective, we didn’t play well in that final against the Raiders,” Stone said.
“But the grit and determination of the group meant we were able to hang in there and be in the game with 10 minutes left.
“Raiders are a fit side and they tend to power off late in games so we need to make sure we have our rotations right so we have the pace to go with them.
“But we’ll go into the game confident.”
Wangaratta will do well to start well, because the Raiders will be breathing fire after squandering a spot in the grand final.
With the speed and precision of Joe Richards, Jessie Smith and Brad Melville on the outside and the brutality of Matt Kelly, Daniel Boyle and Zack Leitch inside the Magpies’ midfield will be hard to stop.
With Bordignon shoring up the backline, helping nullify Jydon Neagle in a mouth-watering contest, the Magpies’ backline is in sublime form and should get the job done.
If Wangaratta can check the Raiders’ run off half back and limit the influence of Brodie Filo then the Magpies’ premiership defence is one step closer to fruition.
YOUNG GUN: Josh Walker will be looking to lead the way in the midfield on Sunday.
