Wangaratta Chronicle - - News -

THE fourth annual Scarecrows, Sausages and Shiraz festival will be held at Pfeiffer Wines in Wahgunyah this weekend.

Early in the year the winery asks the community for their help to protect its vineyard by making scarecrows which will protect its grapes from birds.

Pfeiffer Wines’ Kylie Barton said the response this year had been overwhelming, with scarecrows received from 34 different schools and organisations, including local entrants Carraragarmungee Primary School.

Judging will take place on Sunday with winners announced at 3pm and prizes awarded for Best Scarecrow, Best School Scarecrow, Best Business/ Organisation Scarecrow, People’s Choice Award and Best Dressed Living Scarecrow.

There will also be entertainment including live music with Richard Perso from 12.30pm until 3.30pm, homemade sausages from King Valley barbecue and more, on Saturday and Sunday.
