ENJOY SPRING CELEBRATION
TAKE the wild harvest trail and spend the weekend exploring Kelly country when the 23rd annual Glenrowan Winemakers Weekend is held this Saturday and Sunday.
Members of the region’s winemaking families including Maxine Morrison, Jennifer Booth and Julie Booth look forward to welcoming visitors to the foothills of the Warby Range for what promises to be a truly seasonal food and wine experience.
PICNICS are going to have some serious vintage flair at Morrisons of Glenrowan during the Glenrowan Winemakers Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.
With a nod to recycling, re-using and zero waste, Morrisons will be packing their Saturday lunches into crates that were used by Glenrowan cherry orchards to freight their fruit to Melbourne in the 1950s.
Each crate will comfortably serve two adults and in- clude goodies such as olives, dips, a vegetarian frittata, Gamze Smokehouse meats and a garden salad, with some homemade biscuits and slices to finish.
It’s being prepared by foodie Dianne Morrison, who said lunch will be served in these re-usable containers, and with pretty napery, cutlery and plates sourced from various op shops and the Morrisons’ own collection.
“We’re thrilled to be able to breathe new life into the cherry picking crates we were given by Colin and Lurline Scott, former orchardists in Glenrowan,” she said.
“Equally, I’m really pleased that the lovely mats and plates we’ll be providing for our visitors are 100 per cent recycled.
“So the plan is, you enjoy a crate full of goodies in a spot of your choice in our bush garden.
“With live music, wine and coffee, it’s going to be a lovely day out for couples, friends and families.”
Musician Adam Lindsay is set to play from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday at the winery, where visitors will able to settle back and soak up the amazing views of the alps.
For bookings of a packed lunch on Saturday, or a plated lunch prepared by the King River Café on Sunday, email email@example.com or call or text Dianne Morrison on 0438 662 863.
REPURPOSED: Orchardist Colin Scott’s old cherry crates will be carrying a gourmet lunch during the Glenrowan Winemakers Weekend at Morrisons on October 13 and 14.
