House fire not suspicious
AUTHORITIES have confirmed that a fire that caused damage to a Burke Street home on the weekend was not suspicious.
Detective Sergeant Chris Hill of the Wangaratta Criminal Investigation Unit said the blaze had been ruled as an accident, starting in a bedroom.
Det Sgt Hill said the fire broke out in the home around 2.30am on Saturday while unoccupied.
The resident discovered the fire upon his return home and alerted fire crews.
They extinguished the blaze, but not before it caused significant damage inside the weatherboard property.
