‘TUPPY’ CHEERED ON BY HER SCHOOL
TEAIRA ‘Tuppy’ Cox (left) had all of Appin Park Primary School behind her last week as principal Dale Carmody (above) shaved off her hair, in support of the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.
AS the whole of Appin Park Primary School watched on last week, Teaira “Tuppy’ Cox shaved off her hair for the World’s Greatest Shave, in support of past and present family and friends battling leukaemia.
Mum Jessica Flouch looked on nervously, while Tuppy smiled through the whole thing, and grinned even wider as the school cohort began chanting her name.
Principal Dale Carmody concentrated hard as he buzzed through the nine year old’s hair and eventually, it was all over.
Holding her ponytail in one hand, Tuppy looked triumphantly into the crowd.
“It’s absolutely wonderful to see my granddaughter do this,” said Donna Lowndes. “It’s an amazing thing to do that’s not about her.” Mrs Flouch said she was very proud of the effort made by her daughter.
“She’s done so well, but it is a little scary,” she said.
“She was worried she might be picked on, but after seeing the whole school get behind her today I know they’re proud too.”
Tuppy’s effort raised almost $160, and there is still time to donate to the box at the school’s front office until the end of this week.
