Weekend looks like a ripper

Wangaratta Chronicle - - News -

CONDITIONS look near perfect for this weekend’s Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues.

After a few hot days and possible rain today it’s mid to high 20s for the rest of the weekend.

We are told we have one of the most varied and high calibre range of jazz and blues artists ever assembled here which is certainly saying something after 29 years of the festival.

There is generally something for everyone at the various locations with Merriwa Park featuring even more this year including the blues stage, the community stage and the Sunday market.

It is really making the most of one of Wangaratta’s greatest assets and with no stages set-up in the streets of the CBD it should ease the flow of traffic for those taking in the shops and eateries over the weekend.

For many the weekend will continue Monday and Tuesday and some people are lucky to take advantage of the Melbourne Cup holiday, ending the four days of festivities with a day at the Wangaratta races.

Although there is a strong chance of rain on Tuesday, and no one would begrudge that, do not let that deter you from attending the races.

It will be the first real showing of the magnificent new grandstand and function centre which will provide plenty of cover and protection for racegoers against the elements if need be.

Of course, it’s important to remind revellers over this weekend to do the right thing, both travelling to and from venues or further afield to take advantage of the weekend and at any events.

Take care on the roads and take into consideration the enjoyment and safety of others as you enjoy having a good time.
