Fashions looking hot
GUYS and gals will be all glammed up for tomorrow’s racing at the Wangaratta Turf Club’s cup day festivities with a large cohort expected to enter the 2018 Melbourne Parkview Hotel Fashions on the Field.
Fashions commentator Stacey Thayer from Wangaratta’s Reality Fine Clothing is experienced with the event and she said judges will have a keen eye for certain elements of attire.
“For the ladies lots of frills are the big thing at the moment with the lace and the frilly hemlines and sleeves,” she said.
“Boater hats have come in again this year for the ladies and I’m hoping there is lots of colour with florals and patterns.
“Nice, neat mid-calf length hemlines have come back in as well.”
With the men, Ms Thayer said the really big textured suits, bright ties and patterned shirts are also a big thing.
“We’ve sold a lot of dresses this year, more than I can recall in the last few years so there are going to be a lot down there.
“We’ve got the little kids which are always cute but there are a lot of the mature ladies who are going to go in the fashions on the field this year.”
Those who have entered before might have ideas about what the judges are look for and Ms Theyer said they look at the whole outfit.
“It’s the hair, the makeup, the shoes and even down to the toenails,” she said.
“The toenails have to be lovely as well because I have gone to pick someone in the past and I’ve looked at their shoes and they’re scuffed.
“It gets that close you really have to look into that nitty gritty stuff as well.
“Sometimes there are too many colours with the accessories and it doesn’t really go with the outfit, so we look at what flows and goes together.”
A six-race card at Wangaratta starts at 12.30pm and with all the action from Flemington there is bound to be entertainment for everyone.
DRESSED TO THRILL: AJ Southern and Amy Ledger, dressed to the nines, will hit the races tomorrow along with a large number of fashions on the field contestants expected.
