Showground tennis courts on the move

Wanneroo Times - - Wanneroo Link -

The community tennis courts at the Wanneroo Showgrounds are to be relocated. The courts, which can be accessed for free by casual and recreational users, will be moved to the site of the old skate park. Repairing ‘puff ball’ damage by re-surfacing the existing courts does not represent value for money, as tree roots will continue to cause surface cracking. The relocation option, costed at $154,000, remains within the allocated budget. The new courts will be constructed over the asphalt hard stand of the old skate park, which has no sign of encroaching tree roots. The design also takes into account the requirements of the Wanneroo Agricultural Society and other users of the Showgrounds. The old courts site will be rehabilitated, including surface removal followed by landscaping.
