“This will even­tu­ally be­come an iconic, must-see des­ti­na­tion for Perth and will prove an as­set for lo­cals, vis­i­tors and recre­ational boaters alike,” she said.

The State Govern­ment, through Land Corp, will lead the de­vel­op­ment and work with the City of Joon­dalup to de­liver the project.

“The City will be ac­tively in­volved in the de­ci­sion mak­ing pro­cesses and will work col­lab­o­ra­tively with all stake­hold­ers to en­sure our in­ter­ests and those of the lo­cal com­mu­nity are rep­re­sented,” Mr Pickard said.

The Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club and Whit­fords Vol­un­teer Sea Res­cue Group will also be in­volved to de­ter­mine what re­lo­ca­tion needs are re­quired.

The full cost of the project will be de­ter­mined once Land Corp and the City of Joon­dalup have com­pleted the busi­ness case.

Fed­eral Govern­ment fund­ing will also be sought, with ad­di­tional State Govern­ment fund­ing to be al­lo­cated as part of sub­se­quent bud­gets. Fu­ture pri­vate sec­tor in­vest­ment is ex­pected to be worth more than $500 mil­lion.
