$5m road funding boost
LOCAL councils will receive almost $5 million for roads projects from the Federal Government.
The 2017-18 round of Roads to Recovery funding includes $3.34 million for the City of Wanneroo and $1.59 for the City of Joondalup.
That funding included $1.8 million for the now-completed Neerabup Road widening project through Clarkson, which cost a total of $2.5 million.
There is also $330,000 to upgrade Wesco Road in Nowergup, $300,000 for pavement and kerb replacement on Park Lane, Alexander Heights and $221,400 to build median strips on Landsdale Road.
Several projects in Alexander Heights to receive funding include Shaftsbury Avenue ($200,000), Roseberry Avenue ($180,000), Chancery Lane ($100,000), Fenchurch Street ($100,000), Haymarket Place ($25,000), Euston Place ($15,000), Millbank Court ($15,000) and The Mall ($10,000).
Other projects in Beldon, Duncraig, Greenwood, Mullaloo, Ocean Reef, Padbury, Wangara and Warwick will receive amounts varying between $45,000 and $194,000.
“Our older established suburbs have roads in need of repairs, maintenance, and safety improvements,” Moore MHR Ian Goodenough said.
“Local government relies on the federal government to assist with meeting part of the cost of maintaining the suburban road network.”
Upgrades are underway at the junction of Park Lane and The Mall in Alexander Heights.
