Carer accused of stealing
A CARER at a Balcatta nursing home allegedly stole an 82-yearold dementia patient’s bank card to make fraudulent purchases.
Police charged a 34-year-old Alexander Heights woman with two counts of fraud last Wednesday. The female victim’s son reported the matter to police on August 31.
Investigators alleged CCTV footage showed the woman using the card to make purchases at an Alexander Heights supermarket on August 25.
She allegedly made one transaction in the morning and then another in the afternoon, totalling $91.
The woman was an employee of Juniper nursing home.
Acting chief executive Mick Burke said Juniper had suspended a staff member and started an internal investigation when it was informed of an allegation of stealing.
