A 24-YEAR-old War­wick man has been charged over a se­ries of break-ins and an as­sault on an off-duty po­lice of­fi­cer on Thurs­day. Po­lice were search­ing for the man af­ter he al­legedly smashed a glass door to en­ter a house on Mirra­booka Av­enue in Girrawheen about 1.40am on Septem­ber 14. He al­legedly took the res­i­dent's car keys. A fe­male off-duty po­lice of­fi­cer at the house heard the man and con­fronted him out­side. She was al­legedly hit over the head with a blunt ob­ject. The man al­legedly drove away in the vic­tim's white ute. The woman went to hospi­tal for treat­ment to fa­cial and arm in­juries. Shortly af­ter­wards, a win­dow was smashed at a house in St Al­bans Road, Nol­la­mara. When the man al­legedly en­tered the house, he was scared off af­ter be­ing yelled at by one of the oc­cu­pants. He was charged with ag­gra­vated bur­glary, ag­gra­vated armed rob­bery, reck­less driv­ing to es­cape pur­suit by po­lice, hav­ing no author­ity to drive, as­sault­ing a public of­fi­cer and fail­ing to com­ply with a di­rec­tion to stop.
