A 24-YEAR-old Warwick man has been charged over a series of break-ins and an assault on an off-duty police officer on Thursday. Police were searching for the man after he allegedly smashed a glass door to enter a house on Mirrabooka Avenue in Girrawheen about 1.40am on September 14. He allegedly took the resident's car keys. A female off-duty police officer at the house heard the man and confronted him outside. She was allegedly hit over the head with a blunt object. The man allegedly drove away in the victim's white ute. The woman went to hospital for treatment to facial and arm injuries. Shortly afterwards, a window was smashed at a house in St Albans Road, Nollamara. When the man allegedly entered the house, he was scared off after being yelled at by one of the occupants. He was charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated armed robbery, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, having no authority to drive, assaulting a public officer and failing to comply with a direction to stop.
