GREAT SCOTT A PEOPLE PLEASER
WANNEROO musician singer-songwriter Charlie Scott won the people’s choice award at the Lancelin Buskers Festival on the Queens Birthday long weekend.
The pool for the September 23-24 festival included more than 28 acts and Scott came second overall, with judges describing his performance as “entertaining and enjoyable”.
Scott made his debut as one of WA’s newest solo acoustic musicians at the 2016 festival, where he overcame his doubts and fears of performing in front of others. He has gone on to play every weekend since then, at markets, clubs, charity events and backyard parties.
The musician started with five songs at last year and has gone on to develop more than 50, with more than 200 hours of performance this year.
His recent experiences have included playing a busy brewery in the Swan Valley, a tavern in the Hills and several farmers and growers markets throughout the state.
Hailing from the foothills of the Darling Ranges, Scott only picked up the guitar seven years ago and taught himself as he discovered the sounds of the old school rockabilly, country and blues.
He will perform at the Wanneroo Show next month.
