Lobby against hunger

Wanneroo Times - - Street Watch -

TWO northern suburbs women are holding a movie fundraiser for The Hunger Project in Hillarys this month.

Alkimos resident Jo Rao and Casey Johnston, of Nollamara, will host an advanced screening of Home Again at Event Cinemas in Whitford City shopping centre.

The romantic comedy is about a single mum, played by Reese Witherspoon, whose new life in Los Angeles takes an unexpected turn when she takes in three unlikely houseguests.

Ms Rao is on the WA board of The Hunger Project as well as marketing manager for Silver Chain, while Ms Johnston is studying law and politics at Murdoch University.

Ms Rao said the charity was empowering women to work together to break the cycle of hunger in other countries.

“Tickets to the screening on October 16 are just $25 and that money could fund adult literacy training for one woman,” Ms Rao said.
