WANNEROO opened its WA Premier Cricket campaign with a dominant win over Fremantle on Saturday.

The one-day encounter was played with reduced overs because of the inclement weather.

An undermanned Fremantle side, which lost multiple players to the domestic one-day competition, managed 7-104, with the Roos chasing it down in the 25th over for a six-wicket win at Stevens Reserve.

Wanneroo paceman Jack Cattrall performed strongly in his return to the club from Claremont-Nedlands, taking 3-26 off six overs.

WA rookie Matt Spoors was best with the bat for the Roos, striking 47.

Fremantle captain Brayden Sutton topscored for the Port Boys with 35.

Wanneroo faces Willetton in its first home game of the season this Saturday.
