Joondalup students get creative for inaugural Health and Wellness Day.
JOONDALUP Primary School and Education Support Centre students put their books and pens away recently and got creative for their inaugural Health and Wellness Day.
The school formed a committee to develop a day centred around health and wellbeing in line with the school’s desire to support and nurture positive wellbeing and mental health for staff and students.
“We wanted to use the strengths of the schools and local community to include activities that would connect the body and brain and help students develop their focus and attention,” committee leader Skye Mercer said.
Activities included yoga, drumming, music and mood, dancing, fitness, the Harry Potter-born game quidditch and making calming jars, stress balls and kindness rocks.
Students also explored calming gardens and nature patterns.
