Alcohol, drug service cuts

Wanneroo Times - - Opinion -

I NOTE with a touch of sadness the Government has cut funding to successful programs at the Alcohol and Drug Support Service.

This is similar to their policy of removing funding and support for successful education programs.

So rather than funding Kiara College Agriculture Program and the Meth Helpline, the Government chooses to support and fund a detention centre in Lockridge. This detention centre should never have been built where it is.

It is overstaffed, underutilised and seeks to house long-term prison inmates, some accused of horrendous crimes, across the road from family homes. MIKE GILKS, Lockridge
