Council in hunt to keep CEO

Wanneroo Times - - News -

JOONDALUP chief executive Garry Hunt has been offered a new employment contract but his salary will remain the same.

Going behind closed doors at last month’s meeting, councillors voted 11-1 to renew Mr Hunt’s contract until July 31, 2020, under the same terms and conditions as the current contract.

If Mr Hunt (pictured) accepts the offer, another report will be submitted to the council to consider entering into the new contract, in line with the Local Government Act.

As part of the agenda item, councillors also received an annual performance review on Mr Hunt and endorsed the overall rating of “performing at an extremely high level”. Cr Russell Poliwka voted against the motion.

Councillors then remained in the confidential session to consider Mr Hunt’s annual salary review. They unanimously supported keeping the salary at $375,774.
