All of the dolphins swimming inside the structure have now left the enclosure

THE last of the dolphins inside the shark barrier at Sorrento beach headed out to sea last week.

The City of Joondalup contractor repairing the barrier could not close a final section until the dolphins had swam out.

“All of the dolphins that have been swimming inside the structure since last weekend have now left the enclosure,” City chief executive Garry Hunt said on Friday.

“The dolphins had been swimming in and out of a section of the barrier extended 100m from Sorrento beach whilst repairs were being undertaken to the enclosure, damaged by storms in late July.

“Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions officers have been monitoring the situation and are satisfied with the outcome.”
