City li­brary open to vis­i­tors for a six-month trial

CITY of Wan­neroo started a li­brary re­view and a Sun­day open­ing trial at Wan­neroo Li­brary this month.

Oc­to­ber 7 marked the start of the six-month trial to open Rocca Way li­brary seven days a week.

Free ser­vices at the fa­cil­ity in­clude the e-li­brary and con­nected com­puter fa­cil­i­ties, as well as pro­grams and events geared to­wards early learn­ers through to se­niors.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said the li­brary would open on Sundays from 11am to 3pm un­til March 31.

“Our li­braries al­ready see more than 8000 peo­ple ev­ery week, but Sun­day open­ings will of­fer in­creased con­ve­nience for cur­rent li­brary-go­ers and also en­cour­age new vis­i­tors to call in,” she said.

The City will re­view the open­ing hours of other li­braries pend­ing the suc­cess of the Sun­day trial.

It is run­ning a sur­vey on li­brary open­ing hours un­til De­cem­ber 15 to guide fu­ture trad­ing days and times at all the City’s li­braries.

Staff are ex­pected to re­port to the coun­cil on the sur­vey re­sults in Fe­bru­ary 2019 and an­nounce any changes that re­sult next April.
