Action on meth plan explained
THE State Government’s meth action plan and latest WA Police structure overhaul were topics discussed at a community safety forum in Wanneroo.
More than 70 people attended the October 22 meeting hosted by Wanneroo MLA Sabine Winton at the Wanneroo Sports and Social Club.
Police Minister Michelle Roberts was the key panelist who addressed the forum about the State Government’s meth action plan and explained how the police operational structure overhaul benefited the Wanneroo sub-district.
The changes, which came into effect in July, have resulted in Wanneroo patrol and response teams operating 24 hours, improving response times.
The panel also included senior police officers from the Joondalup District office and Wanneroo police station.
The minister and officers answered community questions on domestic violence, Neighbourhood Watch, alcohol abuse, mental health and the restructure of the PCYC (Police and Citizens Youth Club) for youth.
“It was really valuable for residents to talk and meet with the minister,” Ms Winton said.
