Joondalup in the pink

Wanneroo Weekender - - Sport -

ILUKA Sporting Complex will turn pink as Joondalup looks to take a grip on third spot when it faces Willetton in WA Premier Cricket on Saturday.

The Centurions have slotted into home final contention after a rain-forced draw, which potentially saved them a loss against University last weekend.

Joondalup edged into third by three points, putting Perth, which lost to Melville, down to fourth.

The tight battle gives the side little margin for error in the remaining two games of the season.

The Centurions were precariously poised at 1-14, chasing 222 against University at Iluka, heading into the second day before rain had the sides share the points.

Joondalup will celebrate its Pink Stumps Day this Saturday to raise money for the funding of McGrath Foundation breast cancer nurses.

A ‘Pink Ladies Pavilion’ will offer wine tasting and high tea inspired food, while the club bar will hold tastings of beer and cider.

The club is encouraging a gold coin donation.
