ARTS APATHY?

Wanneroo Weekender - - Opinion -

ON attending the second forum held at the Joondalup Reception Centre regarding the Joondalup Performing Arts Centre project, I was concerned at the low attendance. Is this because people do not know about this project or do they not care?

Do ratepayers realise if this goes ahead, it will be at a cost of $100 million, ongoing operational costs aside?

The infrastructure is far too extravagant and costly, and Joondalup ratepayers will face higher rates increases for the unforseeable future.

Utility bills, health insurance, shopping are all going up and people unfortunately are losing jobs. This will be another burden to contend with.

I urge all Joondalup ratepayers to contact their local councillors, find out the facts and think long and hard before they vote at their June meeting. ANNE BRYANT, Connolly.
