THE Joondalup Wolves face league leaders Perth in a rare Thursday fixture tonight, as they look to rebound from their first loss of the State Basketball League season.

The Redbacks pose a major threat to the Wolves’ domination at Joondalup Basketball Stadium.

The side has won five straight to begin its campaign, boosted by the inclusion of retired Perth Wildcats legend Shawn Redhage, who has averaged nearly 26 points.

The Wolves dropped from second to fourth after losing to the East Perth Eagles 94-86 at Morley Recreation Centre on Saturday.

Joondalup had to contend with a familiar face in ex-import and championship player Kevin Davis, who the Wolves did not re-sign at the end of last season.

And the big man produced the goods in his first game against his old side, taking a game-high 26 points and 13 rebounds.

Trian Iliadis led scoring, assists and rebounds for the Wolves, notching 20 points, five dimes and six boards.

In the women’s competition, the third-placed Wolves are one of three undefeated teams after beating East Perth 80-62.

Courtney Gerwing led scoring for Joondalup for the first time this season, hitting 20 points.

Shani Amos was typically productive, creating 10 assists and six rebounds.
