Ticket scalpers tar­get free Birds of Tokyo con­cert

A FREE con­cert in Wan­neroo is caus­ing con­cern af­ter ticket scalp­ing was dis­cov­ered.

A Gumtree user ad­ver­tised a ticket to the City of Wan­neroo Presents con­cert head­lined by Birds of Tokyo for sale for $50.

Res­i­dents had ex­pressed frus­tra­tion at miss­ing out on the Novem­ber 4 event af­ter all 12,000 tick­ets were al­lo­cated in one hour and 20 min­utes.

The City was alerted to the at­tempted re-sell­ing and posted on its Face­book page on Sun­day that it was “deeply dis­ap­pointed”. “Rel­e­vant au­thor­i­ties have been no­ti­fied,” it said. “The ticket is­su­ing sys­tem al­lows for ticket bear­ers to be cross-matched with lo­cal ad­dresses. Any at­tempt to en­ter the event with a ‘scalped’ ticket will be iden­ti­fied and en­try will not be per­mit­ted.”

A City spokes­woman said the post had been re­moved by the seller.

Tick­ethold­ers will have their iden­ti­fi­ca­tion checked to en­sure they are a City res­i­dent.
