Ticket scalpers target free Birds of Tokyo concert
A FREE concert in Wanneroo is causing concern after ticket scalping was discovered.
A Gumtree user advertised a ticket to the City of Wanneroo Presents concert headlined by Birds of Tokyo for sale for $50.
Residents had expressed frustration at missing out on the November 4 event after all 12,000 tickets were allocated in one hour and 20 minutes.
The City was alerted to the attempted re-selling and posted on its Facebook page on Sunday that it was “deeply disappointed”. “Relevant authorities have been notified,” it said. “The ticket issuing system allows for ticket bearers to be cross-matched with local addresses. Any attempt to enter the event with a ‘scalped’ ticket will be identified and entry will not be permitted.”
A City spokeswoman said the post had been removed by the seller.
Ticketholders will have their identification checked to ensure they are a City resident.
