Old site to be de­vel­oped

THE City of Wan­neroo has in­vited ex­pres­sions of in­ter­est for de­mo­li­tion of the old Yanchep Surf Life Sav­ing Club and re­de­vel­op­ment of the 2130sq m site.

In a state­ment re­leased yes­ter­day, the City called for com­mer­cial or­gan­i­sa­tions, in­di­vid­u­als or joint ven­ture part­ners to de­mol­ish the ex­ist­ing build­ing and build an “ar­chi­tec­turally pro­gres­sive, iconic build­ing”.

It said that should help po­si­tion Yanchep La­goon Precinct as a vi­brant, re­gion- al tourist des­ti­na­tion and the City was open to all po­ten­tial de­vel­op­ment op­tions, pro­vided they com­plied with plan­ning and en­vi­ron­men­tal re­quire­ments.

“Op­por­tu­ni­ties such as an up­mar­ket restau­rant, bar, func­tion cen­tre or sim­i­lar tourist at­trac­tion will be con­sid­ered,” it said.

The site would be avail­able for de­vel­op­ment in mid to late 2018 with the City hop­ing to es­tab­lish a long-term rental pe­riod rang­ing from 10-21 years.
