The City of Wan­neroo agri­cul­tural in­dus­try con­trib­utes ap­prox­i­mately $120 mil­lion to the state and the sup­ply of straw­ber­ries from Wan­neroo is more than 50 per cent.

More than 1000 peo­ple are em­ployed in the Cara­booda, Now­er­gup and Neer­abup grow­ing dis­tricts in that sec­tor.

The City will work with in­dus­try rep­re­sen­ta­tive bod­ies through the Vegetable WA net­work and oth­ers to lis­ten to and work with lo­cal grow­ers to sup­port their pro­duc­tive en­deav­ours.

State MPs are also urg­ing West Aus­tralians to keep eat­ing our lo­cally grown straw­ber­ries and to cut them up be­fore con­sum­ing. The City will ad­vo­cate for lo­cal pro­duc­ers dur­ing this har­vest­ing pe­riod to en­cour­age con­tin­ued pur­chase of lo­cal sup­ply.
