Have your say on HOAs The City is en­gag­ing with mem­bers of the com­mu­nity who want to have their say on the new Plan­ning Frame­work for in­fill de­vel­op­ment in the City of Joon­dalup. There are 10 ex­ist­ing ar­eas or nodes in the City where res­i­den­tial prop­er­ties can be de­vel­oped at higher den­si­ties; these ar­eas are known as Hous­ing Op­por­tu­nity Ar­eas (HOAs) In­de­pen­dent con­sul­tants are cur­rently re­view­ing the City’s ap­proach to in­fill. This re­view in­cludes an on­line sur­vey, which is avail­able at joon­dalup.wa.gov.au/HOA un­til Mon­day 29 Oc­to­ber 2018. Data from this sur­vey will be col­lated and an­a­lysed by the con­sul­tants. Five Lis­ten­ing Posts will be held later in the month, where project team mem­bers will be on hand to hear the key is­sues and op­por­tu­ni­ties raised by mem­bers of the pub­lic. The ses­sions will be held at: Kings­ley Me­mo­rial Clu­b­rooms, Kings­ley Wed­nes­day 17 Oc­to­ber — 9.30am to 1.30pm Emer­ald Park Clu­b­rooms, Edge­wa­ter Thurs­day 18 Oc­to­ber — 5.30pm to 8.30pm Joon­dalup Civic Cen­tre, Joon­dalup Satur­day 20 Oc­to­ber — 9.30am to 1.30pm Fleur Freame Pav­il­ion, Pad­bury Tues­day 23 Oc­to­ber — 9.30am to 1.30pm and Dorch­ester Hall, War­wick Wed­nes­day 24 Oc­to­ber — 5.30pm to 8.30pm. The City has set up a ded­i­cated HOA page on its web­site which in­cludes in­for­ma­tion on the 10 HOA ar­eas and a se­ries of FAQs. Hard copies of the sur­vey can also be ob­tained by calling 9400 4019 or by email­ing HOAPlan­ningFrame­work@joon­dalup.wa.gov.au Nom­i­na­tions Open for Com­mu­nity Cit­i­zen of the Year Awards Res­i­dents have un­til the end of the month to nom­i­nate an in­spir­ing mem­ber of the com­mu­nity for the Com­mu­nity Cit­i­zen of the Year Awards. The awards re­ward and recog­nise in­di­vid­u­als and or­gan­i­sa­tions who have made a no­table con­tri­bu­tion dur­ing the cur­rent year, and/or those who have given out­stand­ing ser­vice over a num­ber of years. There are four cat­e­gories: Cit­i­zen of the Year, Cit­i­zen of the Year – Youth (un­der 25 years of age on 26 Jan­uary), Cit­i­zen of the Year – Se­nior (above 65 years of age on 26 Jan­uary) and the Award for Ac­tive Cit­i­zen­ship (group/event). Nom­i­na­tions close Wed­nes­day 31 Oc­to­ber and can be made at cit­i­zen­shipawards.com.au/nom­i­nate The win­ners will be an­nounced at the City’s Aus­tralia Day Cit­i­zen­ship Cer­e­mony on 26 Jan­uary 2019. Ocean Reef Ma­rina Com­mu­nity Open Day Join the City and LandCorp at the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club on Sun­day 7 Oc­to­ber to view the re­fined con­cept plan for Ocean Reef Ma­rina. Com­mu­nity mem­bers can help shape the pub­lic spa­ces at the ma­rina and have plenty of fam­ily-friendly fun in the process. Ocean Reef Ma­rina is set to be­come a world-class tourism, res­i­den­tial, retail and recre­ation precinct, meet­ing the needs of the boat­ing and fishing com­mu­nity, lo­cal res­i­dents and vis­i­tors alike. The plan­ning stages of this ex­cit­ing ma­rina de­vel­op­ment are well un­der­way. The open day runs from 10.00am-4.00pm.
