youngster Regan Duffy was crowned a national champion as the Australian Junior Motocross Championships wrapped up in Tasmania on the weekend.
Despite a crash late in the week, Duffy fell only one race short of a clean sweep in the 15 years junior lites, giving him 172 points to win the championship from Queensland’s Noah Ferguson on 152 and NSW’s Dante Hyam on 140.
Ferguson also went on to win the 15 years 125cc class from Queensland’s Tye Jones and WA’s Corben Weinert.
Eglinton’s Kayden Minear also had a big week, winning the nine to under-11 65cc on 172 points from NSW’s Ky Woods on 157 and Koby Hantis on 146 and coming second in the nine to under-12 mini lites SW, just 11 points behind Queensland winner Jet Alsop. Alsop also won the 11 to under-12s 65cc class.
Queensland won the Interstate Challenge, where several riders were selected in each division. The winners had a total of 210 points, followed by NSW on 198, WA on192, SA on 189, Tasmania on 183, Victoria on 176 and NT on 169.
