Cen­tral Ward – 2018/19 Cap­i­tal Works The City is cur­rently un­der­tak­ing works on Per­ilya Road, be­tween Ed­dy­s­tone Av­enue and Cam­ber­warra Drive, Craigie, to im­prove road and pedes­trian safety and en­hance the lo­cal streetscape. The pro­ject in­cludes the in­stal­la­tion of raised paved me­dian is­lands at strate­gic lo­ca­tions along Per­ilya Road that con­nect to pedes­trian cross­ing points, as well as new line mark­ings and pram ramps. On­go­ing road resur­fac­ing works are also tak­ing place in Co­quina Close, Jan­thina Cres­cent and Noethia Court in Heathridge. Work in­cludes kerb re­place­ment (where re­quired), storm water drainage up­grades and as­phalt resur­fac­ing. A new play space at Tuart Park, Edge­wa­ter was also re­cently com­pleted. HOA Lis­ten­ing Posts con­tinue Any­one who would like to have their say on the new Plan­ning Frame­work for in­fill de­vel­op­ment in the City can at­tend one of four re­main­ing Lis­ten­ing Posts. The sec­ond of five ses­sions will be held tonight at Emer­ald Park Clu­b­rooms, Edge­wa­ter, 5.30pm to 8.30pm. A spe­cial­ist team of in­de­pen­dent con­sul­tants is cur­rently re­view­ing the City’s ap­proach to in­fill de­vel­op­ment and pro­ject team mem­bers will be on hand to hear the key is­sues and op­por­tu­ni­ties raised by mem­bers of the pub­lic. Three other Lis­ten­ing Posts will be held at: Joon­dalup Civic Cen­tre, Joon­dalup, Sat­ur­day 20 Oc­to­ber — 9.30am to 1.30pm; Fleur Freame Pavil­ion, Pad­bury, Tues­day 23 Oc­to­ber — 9.30am to 1.30pm; and Dorch­ester Hall, War­wick, Wed­nes­day 24 Oc­to­ber — 5.30pm to 8.30pm. The re­view in­cludes an on­line sur­vey, which is avail­able at joon­dalup.wa.gov.au/HOA un­til Mon­day 29 Oc­to­ber. City sup­port for busi­ness More than 80 per cent of all em­ploy­ment in the City is gen­er­ated by the pri­vate sec­tor, so it is im­por­tant that the City does what it can to sup­port pri­vate sec­tor busi­ness growth. There are many busi­ness sup­port ini­tia­tives that the City ei­ther un­der­takes it­self or sup­ports other or­gan­i­sa­tions in de­liv­er­ing. A spe­cific page on the City’s web­site joon­dalup.wa.gov.au is ded­i­cated to start­ing and grow­ing a busi­ness and this pro­vides in­for­ma­tion on key sup­port con­tacts, busi­ness ap­proval re­quire­ments, lo­cal busi­ness ad­vi­sory ser­vices and lo­cal busi­ness train­ing, work­shops and events. Busi­ness sup­port ini­tia­tives de­liv­ered dur­ing 2017/18 in­clude: • De­liv­ery of five Busi­ness e-Newslet­ters to in­form over 10,000 busi­nesses on busi­ness news and cur­rent ini­tia­tives; • De­liv­ery of five Sup­plier De­vel­op­ment Pro­gram work­shops to as­sist lo­cal busi­nesses with un­der­stand­ing gov­ern­ment pro­cure­ment pro­cesses; • Sup­port and pro­mo­tion of Busi­ness Sta­tion in de­liv­er­ing ad­vi­sory ser­vices, busi­ness guid­ance and sup­port; train­ing and work­shops; busi­ness net­work­ing events; of­fice space; and ac­cess to meet­ing and train­ing rooms; and • Sup­port­ing THE LINK web­site (the­link.space) in col­lab­o­ra­tion with ECU to con­nect in­no­va­tive busi­nesses with the help they need to com­mer­cialise new busi­ness ideas.
