An­stis leaves af­ter meet­ing

Baw Baw Shire chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer He­len An­stis at­tended her last coun­cil meet­ing on Wed­nes­day night as her fi­nal duty with the or­gan­i­sa­tion.

Ms An­stis an­nounced her res­ig­na­tion in Jan­uary. She be­gan work with Ser­vices Vic­to­ria as an ex­ec­u­tive direc­tor on Thurs­day.

Farewelling Ms An­stis. Mayor Joe Gauci said four years ago the or­gan­i­sa­tion had to make some big de­ci­sions.

He said Ms An­stis was pre­pared to make the hard de­ci­sions, even though some of them were heart wrench­ing.

“I ap­plaud you for do­ing that and you prob­a­bly copped some flack when it wasn’t war­ranted,” he said.

Ms An­tis said she had en­joyed her time at Baw Baw.

“It’s been a tough jour­ney but it pro­vided me with a lot of op­por­tu­ni­ties.

“Lo­cal govern­ment does ex­cep­tional work for its com­mu­nity and the peo­ple who sit around this ta­ble have the best in­ter­ests of the Baw Baw com­mu­nity at heart,” she said.

Com­mu­nity as­sets direc­tor Phil Can­til­lon has been ap­pointed in­terim ceo un­til coun­cil de­cides on a longer term in­terim ceo or a new per­ma­nent ceo.
