Anstis leaves after meeting
Baw Baw Shire chief executive officer Helen Anstis attended her last council meeting on Wednesday night as her final duty with the organisation.
Ms Anstis announced her resignation in January. She began work with Services Victoria as an executive director on Thursday.
Farewelling Ms Anstis. Mayor Joe Gauci said four years ago the organisation had to make some big decisions.
He said Ms Anstis was prepared to make the hard decisions, even though some of them were heart wrenching.
“I applaud you for doing that and you probably copped some flack when it wasn’t warranted,” he said.
Ms Antis said she had enjoyed her time at Baw Baw.
“It’s been a tough journey but it provided me with a lot of opportunities.
“Local government does exceptional work for its community and the people who sit around this table have the best interests of the Baw Baw community at heart,” she said.
Community assets director Phil Cantillon has been appointed interim ceo until council decides on a longer term interim ceo or a new permanent ceo.
