Drouin finishes on a high
Drouin finished the season on a high with a big win in division one over arch rivals Warragul.
The club also had a win in division three whilst division four had a loss.
Division one: Drouin 18/91 defeated Warragul 2/76.
David McIlfatrick, Chris Stubbings, Sheryl Atkinson and Mark Atkinson (skip) defeated Matthew Schreyer’s team 31/15. Ron Brodie, Maureen Leighton, Dennis Throup and John Leighton (skip) defeated Ken Scammell’s team 22/20. Bob Cole, Les Firth, Steve Barr and Mick Fleming (skip) defeated Gary Johnson’s team 19/18. John Bulmer, Greg McLean, Ian McCartney and Adam Proctor (skip) lost to Clive Padgham’s team 19/23.
Division three: Drouin 16/105 defeated Boolarra 4/74.
Andrew Blaby, Mal Anderson, Pauline Appleyard and Graham Woolstencroft (skip) defeated B. Allen’s team 33/15 to be king rink after several near wins. Terry McFadzean, Margaret Rhodes, Phil Jarred and David Tayles (skip) defeated S. Peter’s team 29/12. Samantha Atkinson, Graham Cocks, Peter Wood and Colin Jeffrey (skip) lost to R. Peters’ team 21/22. Russell Dawson, Matt Eccles, Tim Anderson and Noel Rubenstein (skip) lost to T. Parker’s team 22/25.
Division four: Drouin 0/71 lost to Morwell 20/115.
This Drouin team played under the roof and it was good to play on the new surface.
Gwen Price, Lloyd Smith, Kevin Potter and Bill Eacott (skip) lost to Darryl White’s team 14/28. The Drouin team was just ahead at tea but then the Morwell side took the game away.
Ian Haughton, Richard Joyner, Merv Appleyard and Neil Bullen (skip) lost to R. Anstey’s team 22/30.
Don Mowat, Garry Watts, Ray Watson and Tom Lawler (skip) lost to P. Borrodale’s team 23/24. The Drouin side were unlucky to lose by one shot.
Mary Firth, Les Gouge, Gwen Price and Peter Hone (skip) lost to I. Aulv’s team 12/33.
Manager Kevin Potter thanked all the skips in team three for help before and after each game.
That was the final game for division four – next year may be better.
Drouin Bowling Club has division three playing its final at Yallourn on Saturday against Traralgon (2).
The club is also hosting the division three semi-final between Traralgon (3) and Longwarry.
Drouin had only one winner over the three divisions on Tuesday.
Divisions one and four lost but division two had a win to push into the top four.
Division one: Drouin 2/57 lost to Traralgon 14/72.
Denise Hamilton (skip), Lyn Jeffrey, Lyn Rippon and Mary Firth lost 18/27. Maureen Leighton (skip), Sheryl Atkinson, Margaret Rhodes and Les Firth lost 15/22. Margaret Ratcliffe (skip), Pauline Appleyard, Gwen Price and John Leighton won 24/23.
Division two: Drouin 14/71 defeated Yinnar 2/65.
Irene Dawson (skip), Dini Hone, Chris Attrill and Lorraine Fox lost 14/31. Margaret Schofield (skip), Trish Cole, Merv Appleyard and Jenny Cocks won 35/20. Myra Bethune (skip), Jenny Woolard, Maria Wans and Helen Gaff won 22/14.
Division four: Drouin 2/47 lost to Morwell 8/50.
Kath Dixon (skip), Lorraine Kinrade, Graeme Cocks and Maureen Brunet won 27/18. Janet Caulfield (skip), Faye Halligan, Maureen McMillan and Mary Hogan lost 20/32.
Congratulations to Margaret Schofield’s team for being Queen rink. The division two team won by 15 shots.
Warragul division six skip Alan Potter keeps his team in contention against Longwarry on Saturday. It was a close game, with Longwarry victors by four shots.
