Titans triumph

Warragul has held off a determined Drouin to emerge as premiers in division five.

Sent in to the field, the Gulls struck early with two big wickets. This would set the tone of the innings as the Hawks batsmen struggled to get going.

Garfield/Tynong has triumphed thrilling contest against Drouin.

Choosing to bat first, the Titans got away to a great start with Gavin Koch (31) and Allistair Bliss (63) putting on 95 for the second wicket.

A solid contributi­on from Leigh Carter (26) kept the scoreboard ticking over. With Darren Vandenberg­e adding 55 late in the day, the combine finished with a highly competitiv­e total.

Stephen Bleazby (2-19) and Jacob Sandman (224) were the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, the Hawks made steady progress from the outset with Stephen Bleazby (45) and Mick Wardle (26) leading the charge.

Brad Cross (53) and Ron Harper (56 not out) kept Drouin in the contest.

However, a late flurry of wickets stemmed the flow of runs, enabling the Titans to just sneak across the line.

Darren Vandenberg­e was again in a class above, snaring 6-97 in a marathon 30-over stint.
