Teenager dies af­ter shoot­ing

Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing to in­ves­ti­gate the cir­cum­stances of a shoot­ing in­ci­dent that killed a Nay­ook teenager last week.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred in a bush area at Neerim South on Sun­day, Au­gust 27.

Dustin Buck­ley, 17, was air­lifted to the Royal Mel­bourne Hos­pi­tal with head in­juries and in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion. He died in hos­pi­tal on Tues­day. Po­lice con­tinue to in­ves­ti­gate cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the shoot­ing.

Po­lice re­ported Dustin, was with two friends in a bush area when the in­ci­dent hap­pened about 1.30pm on Sun­day.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors are still try­ing to de­ter­mine the ex­act cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the in­ci­dent.

A 17-year-old male and 23-year-old male are as­sist­ing po­lice with in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Po­lice said they were not look­ing for any other par­ties in re­la­tion to the in­ci­dent.

A memo­rial ser­vice for Dustin Buck­ley will be held at Hill End Foot­ball Clu­b­rooms on Mon­day, Septem­ber 11.
