Demons ride the wind to victory

Warragul & Drouin Gazette - - LIFTOUT -

Koo wee rup didn’t score in either of the two quarters it kicked against the strong wind in the reserves second semi-final.

But a six-goal third quarter with it carried the Demons through to the grand final.

Their third term against Phillip Island gave it a 21-point buffer that proved enough.

The Islanders could only manage 1-3 for the quarter as Koo wee rup bottled up play.

Phillip Island can earn a grand final rematch if it can defeat Dalyston in Saturday’s final.

Dalyston survived a last quarter charge by Nar Nar Goon to get across the line in Sunday’s first semi-final by five points.

The game looked a foregone conclusion when Dalyston led 6-9 to 1-7 at the three-quarter time break. It was not the case. Dalyston, held scoreless in the last term, was hanging on desperately until the siren with Nar Nar Goon kicking 4-3 to get to the verge of victory. preliminary
