Of­fend­ers tar­get power tools in spate of thefts

Thousands of dol­lars worth of tools have been stolen dur­ing sep­a­rate thefts from ve­hi­cles in­ci­dents in War­ragul and Drouin over the past week.

Of­fend­ers forced en­try to a num­ber of heavy ma­chin­ery ve­hi­cles and cars at the War­ragul rail­way yards be­tween Septem­ber 1 and Septem­ber 5.

Po­lice said of­fend­ers en­tered the V-Line yard at the eastern end of the rail­way sta­tion where plant ma­chin­ery is stored.

Of­fend­ers forced open the cab­ins to three ma­chin­ery ve­hi­cles and a num­ber of cars.

Power tools val­ued at $5000 were stolen in­clud­ing a Mil­wau­kee tools and flood lights.

Overnight on Septem­ber 7, of­fend­ers gained en­try to a Ford Fal­con util­ity in Wade St, Drouin and stole a num­ber of tools. Po­lice said the ve­hi­cle was un­locked. Of­fend­ers stole Mil­wau­kee power tools val­ued at $1330.

In an­other in­ci­dent at 7am on Septem­ber 5, po­lice said of­fend­ers stole a Stihl chain­saw and whip­per snip­per from the drive­way of a home in Ed­in­burgh St, War­ragul.

The gar­den tools were val­ued at $700.
