Golden era for Renaissance
The music of master composers Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel will fill Wesley of Warragul on Sunday.
Renaissance Warragul is presenting “Music for a Golden Age” at 2.15pm.
According to members of Melbourne’s Bayside Chamber Players, the 1680s marked a turning point in the history of fine music because it was the decade when Bach and Handel were born.
Members of the ensemble, Claire Nicholson (flute), Susan Batten (oboe) and Debra McLeod (cello), will present the one-hour concert featuring music by these two composers as well as by Telemann, Vivaldi and Marcello who were all part of the “Golden Era”.
Members of Bayside Chamber Players have performed widely but this will be their first time in Warragul.
“We look forward to meeting a new regional audience and experiencing the splendid acoustic of Wesley,” said oboist Susan Batten.
“Music for a Golden Age” is the second and final concert of the 2017 Renaissance Warragul series.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for students, $50 for families.
