Cats clinch the cream
Neerim-Neerim South advanced to the under 18 grand final, winning an epic contest against Warragul Industrials.
With a big crowd on hand to will both sides on, the Industrials made a late charge to set up a tense finish, but the Cats were able to hold on and win by just six points, 5-8 (38) to 4-8 (32).
The Cats had earlier made better of the tough conditions, kicking out to a 20-point lead at the final change.
Not done with, the Industrials made a late charge but left the run too late and couldn’t quite bridge the gap.
Players were out on their feet at the end of the game following a super effort in heavy conditions, but the Cats still found the energy to celebrate.
Jake Ward, Isaiah Abrahams, Connor Perry, Mitchell Diston, Matt Kelliher and Reine Slattery helped the Cats kick out to what turned out to be an unassailable lead.
Matthew Burdett, Nick Elliott, Bailey Wright, Brad Curtain, Jacob Walker and Rory Crook led the final quarter charge for the Industrials.
