Cats clinch the cream

Neerim-Neerim South ad­vanced to the un­der 18 grand fi­nal, win­ning an epic con­test against War­ragul In­dus­tri­als.

With a big crowd on hand to will both sides on, the In­dus­tri­als made a late charge to set up a tense fin­ish, but the Cats were able to hold on and win by just six points, 5-8 (38) to 4-8 (32).

The Cats had ear­lier made bet­ter of the tough con­di­tions, kick­ing out to a 20-point lead at the fi­nal change.

Not done with, the In­dus­tri­als made a late charge but left the run too late and couldn’t quite bridge the gap.

Play­ers were out on their feet at the end of the game fol­low­ing a su­per ef­fort in heavy con­di­tions, but the Cats still found the en­ergy to cel­e­brate.

Jake Ward, Isa­iah Abra­hams, Con­nor Perry, Mitchell Dis­ton, Matt Kel­li­her and Reine Slat­tery helped the Cats kick out to what turned out to be an unas­sail­able lead.

Matthew Bur­dett, Nick El­liott, Bai­ley Wright, Brad Cur­tain, Ja­cob Walker and Rory Crook led the fi­nal quar­ter charge for the In­dus­tri­als.
