Lyrebirds prove too strong

Warragul & Drouin Gazette - - LIFTOUT -

Buln Buln proved too good for a gallant Poowong side in the under 16s, winning 6-6 (42) to 3-3 (21).

Poowong scored first with an impressive running snap, but from there Buln Buln were able to take control across the next three quarters to kick out to a 32-point lead.

The Magpies scored two consolation goals in the final quarter to put some respectability back into the scoreboard.

It finished a gallant effort by the Magpies that saw them win through to the preliminary final, punching above their weight to push deep into the finals.

Josh Pearn, Jarrod Thomas, Connor Gardner, Eamon Brew, Jack Chesterfield and Jake Smith helped Buln Buln take control.

Brian Kelson, Darcy Burgess, Riley Lewis, Jai Newcombe, Mathew Burr and Thomas Hudson led a gallant effort from the Magpies.
