Two air­lifted af­ter car, truck col­li­sion

Two peo­ple were air­lifted to The Al­fred Hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing a col­li­sion in Brandy Creek Rd, War­ragul on Thurs­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the male driver and fe­male pas­sen­ger were trav­el­ling north in a Dae­wood sil­ver hatch­back ve­hi­cle when the col­li­sion oc­curred at about 9am.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions into the col­li­sion are con­tin­u­ing but po­lice al­lege the Dae­woo drifted across the cen­tre of the road and col­lided with an on­com­ing truck.

The Volvo truck and fully loaded trailer was driven by a 35-year-old woman. Nei­ther the driver or fe­male pas­sen­ger in the truck were in­jured.

Po­lice said the Dae­woo was driven by a 25year-old Drouin man. The fe­male pas­sen­ger was a 39-year-old Drouin woman.

The man and woman were trapped in the ve­hi­cle.

They were treated at the scene by paramedics and trans­ferred to West Gipp­s­land Hos­pi­tal be­fore be­ing air­lifted to The Al­fred Hos­pi­tal.
