Saturday was the October monthly medal played in breezy but fine conditions.

The winner of the medal, and also taking out B grade for the day was Matthew Guy, with a score that can only be described as something out of a fairytale.

His 58 nett, yes that’s 58, off a 20 handicap was not surprisingly the run away winner for the day. The club may have to go back to the record books to see if any such a score has ever been recorded on medal day.

The rest of the 97 players faired more reasonably, with the winner of A grade being Ryan Hammond, who had gone six months without as much as a ball down the line, so his score of 67 nett off a scratch handicap was certainly a surprise and welcome return to form.

Junior member Jaryd Kelly returned a very nice round of 72 nett to be the deserving victor in C grade.

The scratch winner of the day was Ryan Hammond with a 67.

DTL: Stan Gajdobranski 71, Jamie Coates 71, Ron Nocentini 72, Glenn Vandeligt 72, Paul Matthews 72, Joe Kirby 72 and Paul Davie 72.

NTP: 5th Alan Bright, 8th Leon Cook, 10th Nick Rowe, 14th Jamie Coates.

A field of 71 teed it up on Wednesday for the mid week medal.

Steve Waters put together a brilliant 65 nett playing off 16 to win both the medal, and B grade for the day.

The A grade winner saw a rare mid week round from Leon Cook, and it was obviously to his liking shooting a great score of two under par 70, for 69 nett.

C grade went to Jim Defoe, who continues to improve after recently joining the club. His 66 nett off a 28 handicap will be a sign of more things to come one feels. DTL: Jock Granger 69, Eric Robbins 69. NTP: 5th and 10th Leon Cook, 14th Richard Sheehan.

This Wednesday is a stableford event with Saturday being the Robbins family par aggregate.

A score of 35 points or better was needed to win a ball for the next best.
