Sexual harassment

This is a true story of sexual harassment 25 years ago.

My daughter started a new job. She had her own desk in a room with 25 other young women all at their own desks.

She was new for a couple of weeks and everything settled down. Then she noticed a young man from the next office would wander in on some sort of a work pretext and discuss details with girls at their desk.

He had a habit of leaning very closely over the girl, his hands would wander over her desk and then sometimes over her.

My daughter realised he would come to her desk eventually so she got prepared. She bought a small bottle of bright red soft drink and a glass and placed them on her desk in an inconspicu­ous spot. She opened the bottle and filled the glass.

The day came when he came to her desk. When his hands started to wander too much she picked up the glass to have a drink, stumbled and quite accidently threw the contents of the glass over his chest.

Shrieking with horror at what she had done she snatched up some tissues which just happened to be on the desk near the bottle and vigorously tried to wipe up the liquid. She
