Hundreds attend cluster meeting

-

The Warragul Tarago Probus Club conducted a special function raising awareness of organ and tissue donations on Wednesday.

The meeting at the Warragul Country Club attracted 200 people from seven local Probus clubs.

Guest speaker was nurse donation specialist Kylie Larkin from Latrobe Regional Hospital.

A critical care nurse for 20 years, Kylie works for DonateLife Victoria which supports staff to increase family consent, donation and transplantation rates.

She highlighted that people of all ages could donate organs and tissues, not just young people.

A local resident also shared his story of having a heart transplant. Larry Virtue Of Bunyip underwent the transplant just three years ago.

“It was very successful,” said Bob Smethurst of Warragul Tarago Probus Club.
