Division 2

- By Sam Laffy

Jindivick (9-214) def. Western Park (8-205): In a nail-biting finish Jindivick have handed Western Park their first loss of the summer, with the Jumping Jacks snatching a one-wicket win on the back of an unbeaten 10th wicket stand of 25 between Michael Buzasi and Jack Langley.

The Jindivick chase was set up on the back of a third successive half-century to Greg Interlandi, with the Jumping Jacks recruit in sparkling form.

He combined with Steve Dillon (who made 32) in an 80-run stand that took the momentum away from the Warriors in the early part of the day, but a Dave Burn inspired collapse ensured a tight finish.

The talented seamer continued his exceptional start to the season with a haul of 644 from 25 overs of probing line-and-length bowling, and his ability to move the ball off the deck ensured the middle and lower order struggled to adapt and score.

When Wil Cole removed Rory Payne for 22, Jindivick were still 16 runs short at 9189.

However, Buzasi (35*) and Langley (4*) eked their way over the line in the second last over of the day, with Western Park just unable to make the final breakthrough they needed.

Titans defeated

Neerim District (188) def. Garfield-Tynong (135):

Garfield-Tynong’s dismal start to the summer continued at the weekend, with the Titans defeated by 53-runs in an unsuccessful run-chase against Neerim District.

It was the experienced pair of Marc Tymkin and Brett Bransgrove who did the bulk of the damage for the Stags – snaring 4-21 and 3-18 respectively – and they ensured that there would be no upset win for the struggling Garfield-Tynong side.

Jack Salan’s miserable run of form – just two runs in his last four innings – continued as he was trapped in front by Ben Lockett, and Thomas Bulenok made just three before he too was on his way, with the scoreboard reading 2-17 early.

Tate Burgmann has so often come to the rescue for the Titans, but he has been unable to breakthrough and make a meaningful contribution this season and it was a similar story on Saturday, with the captain removed for just 10.

?? ?? Dave Burn did his best to restrict Jindivick in division two, triggering a collapse to send the match deep into the second day.
